The Story
Every home has a heart.
At Banni Mara, it was found beneath the shelter of ancient Banni trees.
Long before it became a place for gatherings and celebrations, Banni Mara began as a family home. In its earliest days, ideas were imagined and shaped under the shade of these trees. Sketches were drawn, conversations unfolded, and decisions were made not around tables, but beneath open skies. The house was not imposed on the land. It grew around it.
The Banni trees were never moved. Instead, the home was designed to honour their presence, allowing them to remain the soul of the space. Courtyards, pathways, and open areas were shaped in quiet dialogue with nature, resulting in a home that felt rooted, lived in, and deeply personal.
In Indian tradition, the Banni tree is considered auspicious. It symbolises resilience, prosperity, and new beginnings. Over time, this meaning became inseparable from the home itself. What began as a space of warmth, belonging, and family slowly revealed a larger purpose.
Present
Today, Banni Mara opens its doors as a heritage estate for weddings, gatherings, and stays. While its role has evolved, its essence remains unchanged. The same trees that once witnessed the making of a home now stand witness to new chapters being written, families coming together, and unions being celebrated.
Banni Mara is not defined by a single moment. It is shaped by many. It is a space where past and present coexist, where celebrations feel grounded, and where every gathering carries a sense of meaning.
At its heart, Banni Mara remains what it has always been.
A home that makes space for beginnings.
A place shaped by land, lineage, and the stories yet to unfold.
Weddings at Banni Mara are not staged spectacles. They unfold naturally, across open lawns, beneath a traditional mantap, and around shared tables. When the celebrations pause, the house offers stillness. With six bedrooms, Ilam, the Chettinad house at the centre of the estate, remains a place of rest, conversation, and quiet return.
